Wolf of Badenoch's Tomb with location of hinge for attaching a vented battle visor or a smooth unvented jousting visor. Both visors overlap/lock at the neck giving double thickness to throat area. As lance strikes cut thru mail aventails in this area in the past. #WolfOfBadenoch

Fast Castle did reconstruction in 1987 followed corbel machicolations along as I thought it was a Hall block. But changed this when I found (in ruin painting) it led to part of a Keep which makes alot more defensive sense. So tweaked reconstruction. #FastCastle #ScottishCastles

Nesbit Moor 1355. William Ramsay of Dalhousie (Brother of Alexander, the hero of Dunbar siege) draws Lord Dacre & Lord Grey from Norham into a trap. John Halyburton of Dirleton killed in the Scots charge but English defeated with prisoners taken. Darce & Grey were ransomed.

John Knox was captured by the French at St Andrews Castle in 1547 & served as a galley slave. At one point he was in Aberlady Bay beside Luffness Castle during the Haddington siege 1548/49. If he had escaped & swam ashore then some locals would have hidden him.#JohnKnox
