Tantallon Castle my old watercolour of French Galley being sunk by English vessel in 1548. Tantallon's seagate gunners attempted to protect the galley. When Mary of @Marie_Guise ,Mary Queen of Scot's mother visited she gave the gunners 'drink silver' (Beer money) as a thank you.

Arkinholm 1455 Red Douglas defeat Black Douglas forces. The Black Douglas's Brother the Earl of Moray killed & beheaded. His other Brother the Earl of Ormonde was wounded but brought back to good health to also be beheaded. Heads were presented to King James II at Abercorn siege.

My drawing from 1981 of Mary Queen of Scots visit to Tantallon in 1566, before I understood costume, heraldry etc. Looks like she met Rod Stewart or is it an early version of 'Highlander' meets 'Outlander'. Some medieval movies still present Scots as hairy highlanders today.

Before working at Tantallon Castle in 1981 and being mad about Castles and medieval armour. I was mad on the TV shows of Doctor Who, Space 1999 and the weekly comic of @2000AD with Judge Dredd. Some of my comic story drawings from 1979 and Dalek comic idea from 2006.

In 1388 James 2nd Earl of Douglas was stabbed in the back by his own armour bearer Bickerton. Bickerton in turn was killed between the Friary & Luffness Castle by Ramsay of Waughton (before he could be questioned). Ramsay then disappeared. Archie The Grim masterminded the murder.

Nothing like the smell of fresh bread. In medieval times they cut it length ways with the 'upper crust' going to the well to do Lords & the bottom half used as a plate & given to the poor. That's why rich folks today are called upper crust.
