Wolf of Badenoch's Tomb with location of hinge for attaching a vented battle visor or a smooth unvented jousting visor. Both visors overlap/lock at the neck giving double thickness to throat area. As lance strikes cut thru mail aventails in this area in the past.

Heraldry has meaning. After the Battle of Teba in 1330 (James Douglas throwing King Robert's heart). The Bruce heart badge was added to the Douglas heraldry to remember this event and scare their enemies because of their fame in combat.

Fast Castle did reconstruction in 1987 followed corbel machicolations along as I thought it was a Hall block. But changed this when I found (in ruin painting) it led to part of a Keep which makes alot more defensive sense. So tweaked reconstruction.

With images like this its easy to see how folks saw horse heads in the sea and carried it over into in early poems and legends. Michael Bernhardt image turned into a Gif. post.

Arkinholm 1455 Red Douglas defeat Black Douglas forces. The Black Douglas's Brother the Earl of Moray killed & beheaded. His other Brother the Earl of Ormonde was wounded but brought back to good health to also be beheaded. Heads were presented to King James II at Abercorn siege.
