Folks tend to think of the Norman fleet invasion of England in 1066 & the Spanish Armada invasion of 1588. However there was another plan in 1348 where French Lords stopped fighting each other & united building a fleet to take the fight to England. But the Black Death stopped it!
Before working at Tantallon Castle in 1981 and being mad about Castles and medieval armour. I was mad on the TV shows of Doctor Who, Space 1999 and the weekly comic of 2000A.D with Judge Dredd. Some of my comic story drawings from 1979 and Dalek comic idea from 2006.

@JakieCrookston @HoganSOG Changed my painting of Fast from 1987 when I found there was a Keep behind the gatehouse. I had thought the machicolations ran in a line like a Hall house. But I was wrong.
#OTD in 1356 Battle of Poitiers. Archibald Douglas & his Cousin William 1st Earl of Douglas fought for the French King John against the Auld Enemy. Although captured along with King John, Archibald pretended to be a Cook's boy dressed in his Master's armour to escape ransom.

Abercorn Castle @TheCastleGuy image. Nigel Tranter asked if I could do something with Abercorn as there were no Plans to work from. He suggested three towers backed against the Forth. So came up with a purely speculative view in 1985 for 1455 siege. Recently did a new version.
In 1306 Comyn was stabbed to death at Greyfriars Church by Robert The Bruce. Kirkpatrick made sure Comyn was dead. Costumes for Comyn, Kirkpatrick & Bruce from Nigel Tranter's The Bruce film project in 1991. Nigel suggested Seton Church as a Greyfriars mockup for this scene.
#OTD in 1297, Scottish forces under the command of Andrew de Moray and William Wallace, defeat an English Army at the Battle of Stirling Bridge. Andrew Hillhouse's great images of Moray and Wallace. #AndrewDeMoray #WilliamWallace
