In 1388 James 2nd Earl of Douglas was stabbed in the back by his own armour bearer Bickerton. Bickerton in turn was killed between the Friary & Luffness Castle before he could be questioned by Ramsay of Waughton. Ramsay then disappeared. Archibald the Grim masterminded the murder

The Lauder L-plan tower of Hatton was seized by kin of the Earl Douglas because Lauder 'safely' escording the 8th Earl to dinner at Stirling Castle where he was stabbed by King James II of Scots in 1452. King had a Sow built & hired cannon to recover Hatton from the Douglases.

As a boy I was amazed at the work of Alan Sorrell. His reconstruction of Dirleton was the first image of its kind I ever saw. So I copied his techinque of boxing views a section at a time. I used (8 pence) Postcard images in 1981 then scaled up to A3 size (Tantallon example)

He used a frogmouth jousting helm covered in leather with a hose to the land powered by bellows. There was an experiment done with this design years ago powered by three bellows and it work.

Talk from 2017 covering strange weapons designs of Talhoffer from 1459 gatehouse ankle cutter (Crayfish) & diving suit design. Made mock ups of each design. In theory Crayfish on pulley cut at legs as knights held their shields above their heads expecting Murder hole impacts.

Wolf of Badenoch's Tomb with location of hinge for attaching a vented battle visor or a smooth unvented jousting visor. Both visors overlap/lock at the neck giving double thickness to throat area. As lance strikes cut thru mail aventails in this area in the past.

Was a big fan of https://t.co/Ri3lXVhs96 in the 70s. My comic book drawings from 1979 must have subconsciously influenced the Village Gala costumes designs that I made for myself and my Sons in 2011.
