to me this page in “you dont hurt anymore” is steeped in subtext. ichigo IS a tough kid that can take pain, both physical and emotional. i feel like what kubo is actually more talking about here is the emotional, because of grimmjows dismissal.
ichigo again (like his outburst at ulquiorra) only loses his composure when orihime’s safety is mentioned, finally getting the reaction grimmjow wanted therefore teaching him if he wants a better fight with ichigo, he has to go for orihime.
orihime having utmost faith in ichigo, even knows how he says he’ll win to her as a promise to himself (just doesnt realize shes the only one he does that with outside of himself) but is still terrified for him.
