To start out December 2021 there are extreme positive anomalies over North America and Asia with a global departure of +.6°C. I can't recall seeing such a giant, deep red area over North America since I began looking at these charts. @capitalweather @extremetemps @HeatwaveKGNS
The globe has risen this week to +0.6°C over the 1979-2000 average. This is what that awful "red" picture looks like on this Thursday on the eve of COP26. @MichaelEMann
I get awfully nervous this time of the year when the lower 48 states get hot. The extra heat leads to Gulf waters staying warm with low shear aloft, so be nervous for more tropical development.
The red colors on this Climate Reanalyzer chart are about as dark and bright as we've ever seen for any location valid for Sunday.

Saturday's temperature anomaly chart clearly shows the current western and European #HeatWaves. Haven't seen much in association with the more extreme northern Russian anomaly, but I bet maxes are very toasty there.
Here is another reminder that global warming still goes on despite many in the United States experiencing a chilly #MemorialDay2021 weekend.
Some of the biggest temperature anomalies occurring Monday on the planet come from the central and eastern U.S. and southern Canada where many more warm records will be set.
This isn't a time to celebrate winter chill delay, but to recognize that we have a climate emergency!
Oh no! Looks like more record hot, fiery times are ahead for the West, particularly Oregon and California in about one week. Due to ongoing conflagrations, we could be looking at more very serious disasters since fires will probably spread out of control due to another #heatwave.
Wow! While we were focused on U.S. weather a huge heat dome has built over Europe, shattering many September records. Follow @extremetemps and @EKMeteo for much more information.
