Our overly? rambunctious GFS is at it again on Friday, predicting a CAT5 historic from mid into late July. If a 603 dm ridge verified as depicted, we would probably see the hottest day in U.S. history. As stated though, the GFS after 168 hours leaves much to be desired.

Yes, this is some amazing North American warmth for mid-May. Though it won't last, I don't think I've ever seen a 500 mb heat dome this strong this early in the warm season in my 40 years of looking at these charts as a meteorologist.

Is it now June? Models are literally spitting out solutions for the middle of DEC 2021 that mirror Junes during prior cooler times I knew during the 1970's and 1980's. Climate science proponents will see vindication while every denier should beg for forgiveness.
