Even the finale with him miraculously surviving having his throat sliced only to kill both himself and Mother. It just doesn't feel any sort of reward to the character.
Likewise, David Cain isn't an all too great antagonist either as he spends the entire series being this loyal soldier, but you get those hints of the old David. But never does he truly shine as he did in the prior universe. He has no real personality outside his new edgy costume.
Also, the series brings back a little bit of Vol. 2's slight precog abilities (she notes Batman & Robin about to arrive in #5), but suddenly forgets this ability in her fight against the ballerina assassin three issues later.
