Lunch Andalucia: Ajo blanco (white gazpacho) almond milk, garlic, little bread to thicken, dash vinegar.
hazelnut leaves - big n chewy n roughish - make good dolma-wrappers stead of vine.
Sicily: capers in full bud n bloom everywhere on walls. Locals say just pick the buds into a jar with salt.
olive tree in temple garden at Syracuse. Watched Greek tragedy in amphiteatro - fabulous costumes, no jokes.
pheasant pie on the way - pair of pheasants by the ponds. He seems keener than she - 'twas ever thus.
Heron on the pond - must be after the tadpoles. Bang goes the frogs' legs supper.
@porchettanyc do your ramps look like my wild garlic in Wales? See pic below - they're about 6" tall.
Wild garlic and pea soup - yum, even if the peas were frozen (no cream - nutmeg n a bit of butter).
Brekkie: first 2 sticks outdoor rhubarb cooked with leftover crystallised ginger from xmas, plus thick yog.
