I must admit though, I have moved far away from the original events and taken more than just a few liberties. Most notably, of course: Dragons.

I did keep 1555 and a number of other telltale events.

Strawberries have been mentioned in fairytales, praised in ancient Roman texts. The medieval kitchen knew and used them. Except... not our overgrown, watery modern strawberries. They talk about the woodland strawberry, which has been collected for times immemorial.

Emotions are the colors we paint with--emotions is what we are trying to evoke. Descriptions are a tool to weave this spell into the story. We should not try to cut them back; instead we ought to be aware of what we describe, and how.

I think there is an important part that needs to be understood about descriptions.

A book is not television. We don't describe a scene so that readers know there is a table by the window and that it is three feet tall.

We are painting with words and imagination is our canvas.

@bryanna_gary My fantasy WIP comes with a free tabletop RPG, so that the book--or any other campaign--can be relived and played with friends.

Character generator and rule book are free for all, so people can play anywhere via video conference, even if they are apart.

@DoanWriter @ReneeGendron As far as sword fighting is concerned, it depends on the region and time. The arguably oldest known book on the topic dates to the 14th Century, a German work that is on display in the tower of London. These works were basically picture books with brief descriptions in Latin.

The weekend was rather productive. I had to spend some time in transit, so I sat down and got half of the translations done for my picture book "Travels Of The Little Witch".

To share the opening of my WIP: "Traveling for witches".

"Deep in the forest stood a one-legged house,
in which there lived a one-eared mouse.

"The mouse's pet was a one-eyed cat,
who lived with a witch in the middle of that."

Looking into legends of the Harz region.
Here do emperors sleep where giants and dwarfs reside, do witches dance while the Wild Hunt haunts the night. Where demons gather power and devils built a tower. It is a place of great tales of old, some forgotten--most still told.
