@clothedvillainy invited me to play a D&D game today - so of course I had to draw my character! (Bonus points if you're a D&D person and can work out what kind of character she is without the tags!).

Bluebeard. A fairy tales that puts the grim in Grimm (cw for DV). One of those fairy tales with a warning that's as timely today as ever. I wanted to put Bluebeard in a modern setting in this illustration - but is Bluebeard even the best version of this tale? Story below! /1
I see #MythologyMonday is looking at endangered species today, so here's East of the Sun and West of the Moon again for the polar bear - a threatened species thanks to climate change.
New painting! I don't always have an idea in my head of what a painting should look like finished or what the story is behind it, instead I just keep painting and changing things until I'm happy with it. So I have no idea what's going on here - what do you think?!
Today is my birthday, so I'm just putting it out there that this year I would love to illustrate fantasy book covers - especially YA and anything fairy tale or folklore related! ❤️
#SheHulk is out and I can't wait to watch the first episode, so it's time to re-share this She Hulk art from late last year!

I don't like that bunny's chances...
I really should use reference images for cloth but I got lazy 😄
Here are the two illustrations without the text - I'm keen on mock cover illustrations at the moment!
I loved The Book of Gothel by @MaryMcMyne - an evocative, well researched, beautifully written fairy tale, with a strong heroine and a fascinating interplay of magic, folklore, religion and power. I so enjoyed imagining Haelewise (what a great name!) for these illustrations ❤️
