3 layers of a graphic reconstruction of Artemis as Potnia theron (Mistress of animals) from the Francois Vase discovered in an Etruscan tomb in Chiusa, Italy. Made in Athens around 570 BC this unusual krater depicts 270 figures, 121 of which accompanied by inscriptions.

Aphrodite riding a swan.
Continuity of geometric patterns between Greek vase painting & Roman mosaics also true for figuratives. Documenting & reproducing allows me to better understand some techniques.
Persephone and Hades Kylix, ca. 430 BC, British Museum, Original & Digital Variations
Laconian Cup - Louvre Museum, Original and my own digital reproductions. This is very time consuming, but it allows me to better understand how these guys were creating and working. They were REALLY good !
I have tried different palettes, Which one do you prefer ?
From late 4th cent. Vila Romana Casale, Sicily, a Medallion of the courtyard mosaic & wreaths I recreated based on this design. I had been wanting to do this for a long time, it took a while, but I am pleased with them !
Feel free to download and use them for your own designs.
Some funky creatures I haven't found in mosaics yet, the Bearded Snakes originated in Greece where they are depicted as the Hydra fought by Herakles, and in relation with the Gorgon.
