Scientist hypothesize that growing kelp with #shellfish could stabilize surrounding #ocean pH by pulling the extra CO2 out of the water and shielding shellfish from acidic water.
This is an example of farming kelp with shellfish.
Here is an example of how photography is a great tool for #SciArt.
These are gooseneck barnacles, a common marine invertebrate found along the coast of Washington State.
I took the photo which helped me illustrate my painting.
As CO2 enters seawater, marine plants like kelp absorb it and use it during photosynthesis.
This painting shows CO2 (pink bubbles) being absorbed by kelp and used during photosynthesis.
As a science communicator, I realized that there are somethings that are easier said with visuals than with words…. which is when it finally occurred to me that art could be the perfect communication vessel.
This painting shows oxygen created my marine plants in the ocean.
Mainly, it's been a photographic project so far.
This is a geological section of the Paris Basin & a version of the section I made as a sculpture and then photographed & printed.
Gonzales designed the lab's logo; chose a colour scheme for the site; drew decorations for walls; designed tables, desks, jewellery, and flags; illustrated posters and publications; and designed notepaper and announcements for special occasions. https://t.co/E40nfJIvkL
Not only are they deterministic, but the equations behind these images are actually really simple!
I was lucky enough to work quite closely with @SusanEAldworth when I did my intern at @GV_Art way back when. Her work is so beautiful and her stories behind the works are so interesting. Her curiosity for the consciousness makes you curious with her.
These drawings go back to my curiosity in fractals in nature, how they form and repeat patterns appear, and how fractals make up the world! #illustrating #bacteria #microbialme #SciArt #artisttakeover @MellEJFisher
Partly because I wanted to explore this further, I challenged myself to draw #100nudibranchs
Nudibranchs/sea slugs seem to be the ultimate drawing practice with the shapes, colour and patterns!
Disclaimer: I haven't come close to 100 yet!
