JLA Classified had Morrison/McGuinness to start, followed by a Giffen/@JMDeMatteis/@maguirekevin reunion. Later there was @GailSimone /Jose Luis Garcia Lopez (!!!), a @DanSlott/@thedanjurgens story, and even Peter Milligan’s cancelled Kid Amazo OGN worked into an arc (3/)
Dear @DCComics, please let @TomTaylorMade write a Green Arrow/Black Canary series. I’d love to see it in regular continuity, but a GA/GL Dceased spin-off set in the 5 yrs they spent on Earth 2 would be 👍 🔥. This exchange in today’s Dceased shows that Taylor writes them so well
Oh, and that issue is just another reminder that Kevin Maguire does the best faces, and has for years and years
The issue has Superman dealing w/ a new Toyman (who would also play a big role in Loeb’s Superman/Batman), & responding to emails from everyday people. McGuiness handles the big Toyman battles, while Maguire handles the smaller scale email parts. The split in pencils is perfect
At least the next issue was better. Superman #180 was a Loeb penned Dracula story with Ian Churchill pencils. I like Churchill in small doses, and the colors by Tanya and Rich Horie work really well here. I love the change when the sun is up in that last pic
I was reading F4 Grand Design on Marvel Unlimited last night. This panel was innocuous, but I couldn’t help but think about how Uatu would be watching what is going on here in America these past few weeks, and how this panel would sum it up perfectly
@DaveShevlin88 @NirevelOpinions @excel522 I hate you guys... it’s 4am, I haven’t slept, and now I’m on DCU reading f’n Aquaman comics I read 15 years ago lol
Hot Take: I liked Alan Davis’ X-23 costume way more than her just wearing black. I wish they would’ve adjusted it, and made it work a bit better than looking like it was painted on rather than get rid of it all together
A few issues later Kirkman did an issue titled “1991” that featured Jubilee, Wolverine, and Cable. Jubilee disguised in an oversized Hydra uniform is great.
