(2) In 1826 in the "Gartensaal" of the cottage Felix #Mendelssohn, Abraham's son & grandson of #MosesMendelssohn, 1st presented his new concert overture (Op.21) "Sommernachtstraum" (played with sister, #FannyMendelssohn). 1st public concert was in Feb 1827 in #Stettin/#Szczecin.

1st recorded #Berlin #Xmas market 1530 in Breite Str. south of #Stadtschloß. It was its regular venue until 1873: moved to #Lustgarten after Breite Str. dept. store owner #Hertzog complained the market reduced his profits.
#OTD 1878 at 6am in #Berlin a failed #Kaiser-Wilhelm I assassin, Max #Hödel, was executed at #Moabit prison. His beheading went down in history as a rare case of executioner using a museum object to decapitate their "client": the axe came from #MärkischesMuseum. @StadtmuseumBLN

U-Bhf Schönhauser Allee (C last tweet) under its original name "Nordring" which it carried for 23 years from 1913 until 1936, when it was renamed after the boulevard along which its elegant elevated section was built.
Architect, A Speer was furious: No 1st was #Munich's Bahnhofshalle (15m bigger, 265m diameter). Construction of the #Volkshalle would have meant demolition of the whole #Alsenviertel, a very central residential area: it began in 1935 (ended due to outbreak of #WW2).
