I added a nose which I'm positive was the right move and I tried to fix the hand and arm, and tweaked some more things... I think there's probably still more to fix but this is an improvement!

The perspective on the hand and arm bothered me so I changed it and I think it's at least better, but I've been trying to fix the eyes and they aren't working and I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Also made the boots match the gloves. Progress?

I am now sure that it works with colors but I'm tired so future Lauren can fix it tomorrow, this is a first pass at least

Full image here BTW. I'm really proud of this one, despite its flaws. I thought I finished it months ago, but then I got new brushes and decided to give coloring it another go, and I'm so glad I did!

Oops I made a new version following some feedback I got, here and elsewhere

Fewer lanterns, more lanternlike, tried to give them a color glow that matches the background, changed the glow layer to glow better

Also added some texture to the trees

OK, I'm being really indecisive here after playing around with this picture some more. Here we have glow with no sparkles, glow and sparkles, and glow with lanterns instead of sparkles

An illustration of the latest chapter of Darkness & Starlight, my Final Fantasy 6 novelization, in time for its 2nd birthday. We're in Thamasa now, and yes, that's Esper Terra rescuing Relm from the fire. It's an adaptation that has taken on a life of its own!
