Retrogaming of the 8 and 16 bit variety. That's my jam. 😎

I mean, seriously, a super-cool game.
Like Lemmings, but you control a human on the game map, trying to guide the Lemmings in a more indirect manner. 🤔

Wow. 😮
Why do companies do this?
If yer gonna change it that much, just give it a different name (as, indeed, they did.) Coz you can still make some cash out of a quick and dirty port. 😋
Besides which, Benefactor was awesome. 👍

No problem. There are a lot of Roguelike games out there. But, as someone who really liked the Ultima games, this was the only one that really hooked me. (That said, it is a Roguelike. It will try to kill you at every opportunity.)
Now I'm at home, here are some recent snaps: 📷

Huh.. I think I've only tried one in that set.
Probably because arcade conversions tended to me kinda bad, more often than not. (Most of the only arcade ones I tried, I only got after a favourable recommendation from Zzap!64. 🤓

A couple more comparison shots..
Just because I can.

A couple of Mac/Amiga comparison shots just for fun.
..actually, the really teeny pointer on the Mac is a little off-putting to me. 😁

But, here's the thing: part of the charm of the Lemming sprites was "lets make wee guys that have character despite being just a few pixels tall." 🤔 Certainly the backgrounds look beautifully crisp with the extra pixels. But I kinda wish the lemmings themselves were just blocky.

So we know that Lemmings was ported to just about every computer platform under the sun. But one of the interesting ones to look at is the Mac version, as the Mac has twice the graphic resolution of the Amiga and DOS versions, so there was a good bit more detail to the wee guys.

Recently it has been re-developed, modernised to work on today's OS's, and GFX, sound and music have been added, together with a whole bunch of new game options and additions to the game itself. All that, and it can still be played in ASCII-mode, if you want. And its on Steam! 👍

Oh now *that* would be cool.
Skool Daze is excellent, even with its very ZX Spectrum feel. But it does look like it could to with a light splash of paint, and some decent utilization of the C64's hardware capabilities.
