In the quest to enjoy old PAL machines at a proper 50Hz, another fine candidate is "Superfrog" from Team 17. Smooth scrolling arcade-like games was always the Amiga's forté, and this does that so well. Gorgeous graphics, super-smooth scrolling, and tight platforming game-play. 👍
@CommodoreFormat I'm kinda curious now to check out the C64 version, to see just how good a job they could do of porting what was a quite spectacular Amiga game. 🤔
@rexthedogge Combat School was one of the better joystick-destroyer games out there. It was like Hyper Olympics, but you could shoot things. 😁
@rip_dean @SNUKgaming Strangely enough, I was playing around with it today, with full WASD controls and mouse-look. It really does deserve its legendary status. Even after all these years it holds up so well. 👍
@duhproject The art style of this one is adorable. Good physics and sprites flying all about the screen. (Little shell-casings for every bullet you fire.) And the 3d forced perspective is really utilised well with the depth in the level design. I can't quite place why it didn't grab me. 🤔
@duhproject I might have played it.. 😉
It's a beautiful game. ..Maybe I should revisit it, coz I started to feel like it wasn't really going anywhere after a while. (Like, I was progressing.. but the game wasn't feeling any different.) I'll come back to it and see if that's still the case.
@CrazyCollector1 Dan Dare!
Cartoon-y brilliance.
(as I continue to show screenshots from the rival machine.) 😉
