@matthewwaller @BitmapsRetro ..maybe they are bad examples, coz the underlying gameplay there was excellent. But why choose Flight Simulator II, which will bore the pants off most gamers, where there is F/A-18 Interceptor, with faux-Top-Gun music, combat, and instant take-off into the action? Puzzling.
@matthewwaller @BitmapsRetro I recall some of these (Sidewinder, Defender of the Crown, Dungeon Master, Carrier Command) when the Amiga and ST came out, and they were all amazing to us. So I can understand them. But Mercenary and The Sentinel? They are just the C64 games, same colours+sound, but higher-res..
@JudgeDrokk The objects on the C64 version are kinda small, compared to, say, the Amiga version, and certainly the arcade. But it's really got some good speed to it. Whereas, if I go back to the Amiga version.. It's pretty, but it feels kinda slow. 😁
@C64Reloaded Operation Wolf is really cool when played with mouse controls. 🐭
(I've become quite a snob about having to control anything with a crosshair with a joystick.) 🕹️
😋
@buzz_clik Voice samples in Leaderboard Golf? 😮
I'd never even considered that there would be such a thing.
But, then again, I only ever played it on C64 and Amiga. 😁
@Lord_Arse @SEGAForever The Sega one looks colourful.
The C64 version is, I think, the only one I've ever played.
Some events I could never get the hang of. But everyone liked to surf. 😎
@RetroNexusUK @heroofalefgard @ChinnyVision @duhproject Yup, to call it unfair isn't unfair. 😉
Last time I was cheating my way through (infinite lives) and I still found myself giving up on every stage after the first.
I've played the Amiga version much more than the C64 version. So I still hear that "waaaah!" in my head, anyway. 😁
@ChinnyVision I like Shockway Rider. It's certainly different to just about everything out there. (Does remind me of Infodroid, with the multi-speed travelway mechanic.) It gets really hard when the obstacles start appearing.
The digitised face on the title screen looks totally out of place..
