I think you'd enjoy this book if you like books that encourage story creating. Each double-spread is a different story: an opening illustration on the left, a closing illustration on the right. No words to lead it. It is a French language book but mainly wordless

a childhood favourite, the Lionni (I still have my copy) and a Bruna, which is rather old too, but I have only just visited his studio and love this particular Miffy book dealing with death and bereavement very aptly I have always found.

Second choice is French Canadian picturebook maker Isabelle Arsenault, and this on is from her collaboration with Timothée de Fombelle, “Captain Rosalie”. There is a stillness, a beauty to her work that makes the reader pause totake it in.
