I’m lying here in the dark. Listening to the start of the dawn chorus.
One bird sings & then another & another, an orchestra of birdsong building. I hear the wood pidgin enter with its steady rhythm. This is how a day should begin #dawnchorus
On the 12th day of the #Christmas #advent #cake everyone stayed really calm when a couple of #Orcas took a bit too much interest in the sleeping #seals 🦭 but fortunately they only wanted to ask if anyone had seen the star yet? & they apologised for the commotion they had caused
What’s inside this draw of my plan chest …..drum roll…hand finished Lino cuts of the Christmas wren, with his gold leaf crown from a Christmas cracker & a beak full of mistletoe & another titled “the king & the quince” looking all autumnal Both available to order now
Today’s #1000postcards Marsh tit & willow tit are impossible to tell apart unless you listen to them singing. They look like coal tits but without the white stripe down the back of the neck
I’m longing to get up into the hills again with their big views & giant skies.
Some landscapes can just lift one up inside & make one glad to be alive
This painting,of one of my favourite places I walk to,hangs in my living room to remind me to get off the farm & go to the hills
Today’s #1000postcards is a fat little #vole who is busy in the hedgerows & woods right now collecting hazelnuts & seeds to store in an underground chamber to feed on through the winter
@Shaz_arch Is that an exasperated aaaaaa or a relaxing aaaaaa hopefully the latter
Ever so quietly, just as it turned 12 tonight, I heard the #badger snuffling & digging underneath the apple tree. His supper tonight, the windfall apples, sweet & wasp blown. I just hope he doesn’t turn his attention to my strawberries or pumpkins
I’ve done some odd things in my life but putting 6 #CadburysCreamEggs out for the #badgers to eat tonight has to be up there with the best of them.
Some days it feels like living in the land that time forgot. Just the swallows chatter or the hum of a distant engine.
