It’s going to be at least another week before my husband gets his car back. I guess the mice liked the warmth of the engine and the flavour of the plastic coated wiring. Naughty mice the bill will run into hundreds of pounds #1000postcards #mice #Biodiversity2020 #biodiversity
I found my first #Hellebore in flower yesterday always a sign that spring is getting closer. It must have escaped from the garden & made its way right to the middle of the top meadow. The ivy is still full of berries so I will have to wait to trim the garden wall #1000Postcards
With the inevitable Boxing Day hunts, the surprise clubbing to death with a baseball bat of a trapped fox & sick bits of film posted on Twitter of someone bashing a car with a freshly killed fox it’s not been a great time to be a fox in the UK

There is a large bowl of apples in the kitchen saved from the ancient James Grieve & kept for the #fieldfares Every day I throw a few apples out onto the grass. If I hadn’t saved them the wasps would have eaten the lot & The fieldfares, smallest of the #thrushes love a windfall
Who ate all the #ParasolMushrooms? you did who ate all the #chanterelles ? you did who dug up and ate a wasp nest........ok you can have that one on me no worries #Badger you’re the Ray Winston of Sunnyhill Farm
When I was a child my grandpa took me to the park to hand feed red squirrels and I remember our shared delight as the little creatures ran up my legs and down my arms to the handfuls of nuts on offer. Once these creatures are gone it’s sadly very hard to bring them back
Picture of a red squirrel in the absence of the real thing. Sometimes understanding biodiversity means noticing the absence of things and sadly we have an absence of red squirrels. #1000Postcards #RedSquirrels #Extinction #Biodiversity #Mammals
