This is the nobilis.

It's a real beauty with its green metallic elytra, always slightly gaping. Only males have distinctive swollen thighs

They eat pollen, so see them on flowers

House sparrow, Passer domesticus.

These birds used to be incredibly common across urban areas of the UK, however, they've suffered a massive population crash recently with 71% decrease between 1977 & 2008 (RSPB)

This is my Just discovered that adults hiss to deter predators & males will even chase a lump of soil when looking for a mate, thanks to "Butterflies of Britain &Ireland" by Thomas & It remains my fave butterfly book.

Hedge woundwort, Stachys sylvatica. Lots of people don't like this plant because of its smell, but I like the purple spike of flowers and downy leaves. As the name suggests, it used to be used to heal wounds and at staunch blood loss.
