Progress shots of the sparrow. It's good to be holding a paintbrush again

The painting feels like a mix of reality and abstract (if there is such a thing lol!). I love mark making, creating a form with expressionate brush strokes (& trying not to correct them)

Will continue..x

When they say an artist puts part of their personality into a painting - I now understand it.........

Scary when you realise that the pigeon and the composition is actually you!

I've been working on goose in oil - I had actually painted it over the top of a sanded down painting of a badger.

Quite a difficult painting due to the close tonal/colour range.. will now leave the painting to the side to 'rest' & work on at a later date

Difficult to photograph, as the camera is picking up colours & making them stronger. I will put the seagull down to allow the oil paint to dry & will hopefully add another layer. All I want to capture is flight with that look for prey!

I've started to paint over the top of an old painting of an owl, as I wasn't happy with it.

Feeling happier with it, as there are some exciting brush marks. Will see what happens with this painting.

Second Jackdaw - work in progress.

I love the intent stare - makes me laugh

Finished........ will wait now to allow the painting to dry and varnish with an Exhibition Varnish.

Will take a photo when framed and ready for sale.

Need to order more Royal Talens paints

I picked up the crow (Jackdaw) again, as I want to work on the background further. I just so love his expression!

I tried the wax and oil to paint my favourite location - Hay's Bluff near Hay on Wye. It's a beautiful steep hill with a long ridge and panaromic views.

I tried out the wax and oil paint....... I decided to paint a expressive painting of a duckling sitting down (I love their huge feet!).

Eventhough there are some positives with the wax, I don't like the way the paint dries the next day on the palette.
