If I had a spare £1,800, would be tempted to splash it on this entrancing portrait by Charles Buchel of a lady called Kathleen Blake. It's just lovely. For sale from @sarahcolegrave
For warm, fuzzy Christmas nostalgia, nobody does it better than artist and illustrator Margaret Winifred Tarrant. Her work is available exclusively through us @Mary_Evans due to our representation of the Medici Society archive.
Delineator cover by Helen Dryden, #september 1927. From the Peter & Dawn Cope collection @Mary_Evans
Matania's 'Richard II with his child-bride Isabella' has come up for sale @bonhams1793 . The subject matter is a bit creepy but it's significant as it was part of the Pageant of Kings series he was working on when he died in 1963. Yours for £1500 (or a bit more).
We've just started to represent the Donald McGill archive @Mary_Evans. If a bit earlier, I could have included this McGill tribute to Hassall's Skegness poster in my book. (McGill was student of Hassall's correspondence art school). Hassall exhibition now open @hrobinsonmuseum
@katemond @Jo_Livingstone See @Mary_Evans website for all your sweet little mice picture needs.
I am in love with these #fancydress designs made from rag books, 1910, just added from the Peter & Dawn Cope Collection @Mary_Evans . So gorgeous. Also, a photo of a child's costume made from Dean's Rag Books in the V&A collection.
What a treat. Just found my favourite contemporary illustrator, @HelenOxenbury on Desert Island Discs on BBC Sounds. She has been with us since my eldest (now 25) was a baby...Big Mama Makes the World...The Dancing Class...Alice...all so beautifully observed. Tender but funny.
@C20thPosters I'm very fond of her. Contributed quite a few lovely illustrations to the magazines in the ILN archive @Mary_Evans
Today's a good day for John Hassall stuff. Rennart's gallery in NY supplying me with poster scans for book, Bodleian making all efforts to supply scans in time for deadline,London Transport Museum agreeing in principle to loans for exhibition + other scans to come from elsewhere.
