Three paintings of Moscow by Pëtr Pinkisevich (1925-2004). He mostly draw illustrations for soviet books; very soviet, very propaganda. But I like these three melancholic pieces. https://t.co/Bk5P6tACdX
@ouiouhie Haha, so I'm not the only one to say that? ;) There's this vague feeling. Iconographic composition, standing frontal figure, exaggerated neck, athletic build, happy open face looking in the bright future. (minus cleavage and cleaver haha). Also background -> 70s space futurism.
Remember this star? This is her now. Feel old yet?

@urbanthoughts11 And here's a similar map, but with colors mixed. (Your version shows the dominating faith (or non-faith), then the "amount" of it, while this map shows both Catholics and Protestants, so equal shares result in brownish purples).

@jabberworks Aha, that's why! I wondered if you have Ukrainian roots or something :) Yep, it's something in-between a canonical Zaporozhzhe Cossack, with this weird trifecta of facial hair plumes ;) And a wooden toy, like Malyutin's matryoshka or Ukrainian Pisanka.

Martinia Annua is a Central American plant with interesting-looking seeds. It is now used in Thailand for making charms (gilded & immersed in oil), as these seeds resemble Hindu / Buddhist / Jain mythological creature Garuda.
