It's #MaryMagdalene's saint day. Although Bolognese Renaissance artist Elisabetta Sirani often painted the penitent Magdalene (L), she doesn't look a bit sorry in the painting on the right. #WomensArt #RenaissanceArt
It's #NationalPinkDay, reminding us to stand up against bullying of #LGBTQ and minority communities. Clockwise from top left, here are some pinks by Georgia O'Keeffe, Helen Frankenthaler, Berthe Morisot, and Hilma af Klimpt. #WearPinkToday

Both Cassatt & Morisot were devoted to their mothers. Here are Mrs. Cassatt Reading to Her Grandchildren (1880) and Mother and Sister of the Artist (1870). #Impressionism #WomenArtists
Images of mother and child by (clockwise): Bessie Potter Vonnoh (American), Nguyen Thanh Binh (Vietnamese), unknown Ojibwe artist, and Nijideka Akunyili Crosby (Nigerian). #HappyMothersDay
@hfchitchat Asian women artists! The Printmaker's Daughter, by @kmgovier, is about Oei, who collaborated w/her famous father, Hokusai. I'd also love to read about so many other, from Kuan Tao-Sheng to Uemura Shoen (below: Gathering Shells at Low Tide.) #HFChitChat
Portraitist #AliceNeel, born #OTD in 1900, painted celebrities, neighbors & friends, pregnant women, and children. Here's one her lesser-known works, a portrait of Martha Mitchell, who has been on my mind lately. Do you remember her?
It's #NationalBirdDay, so here's Julie Manet with her parakeet, painted by her mother, Berthe Morisot; a S-P of Frida Kahlo with her parrots; and The Wounded Dove, by Pre-Raphaelite Rebecca Solomon. I'd love to see other images of birds by women artists in replies! #womensart
