It was a nice trip down memory lane! Back when I used to make tiny, lame, inconsequential prototype games and not the ambitious monstrosity of a project that is Recompile today. And of course, amazing to see doing so well too. Perhaps a collaboration one day? :P

Eventually, I commissioned a pixel artist to help revamp the graphics into something more polished and professional. So I decided to look them up today and it turns out the artist was , who went on to work on big indie hits such as Katana Zero, Duelyst and Delver!

I did all the myself, which is why it looked absolutely terrible. I'm no artist, so I couldn't figure out how to do proper shading to convey 3D volume.

Including this fun little portal that closes in 24 seconds of level load, you had to speedrun to get there, in a level that would normally take 10 minutes or so to complete. Most players would not realise it even exists. People are crazy.

For EGX this week and I have been trying out some new VFX to help attract new players to our booth. This will eventually be part of a multi-layered interactive install sequence, starting the game off with a literal big bang!
