this is why the best stories about these characters tend to be self-contained tales that exist outside of what we think of as the "main continuity"- they aren't shackled by 70 years of history, and thus can focus on the potential of the premise

part of it might be the visual design... "brainwashed charlie" is a concept that had previously been explored in the VS crossover games, and eventually in the Udon comics. it's definitely an idea with legs, but i think the weird stitched-together look just didn't land the same

we'll be doing post-mortem "what went wrong" examinations on Street Fighter V for years, i think, but imo one of the larger misfires was changing Charlie's character from this cool older mentor type to a tortured angsty Frankenstein. it just doesn't suit him very well

i stand by the opinion held by myself and many Lantern geeks for the last 15 years: Nathan Fillion is THE guy to play a live action Hal Jordan. and to anyone who thinks he's too old for the role, i say NAY NAY. time has only made this casting choice better! here's my pitch:

lrt Iron Man's Modular Armor from the 90's is by far my favorite look for him and i wish they would bring it back. the color balance is perfect, the shapes are dynamic, and the implication that Tony built big dumb fake muscles into the suit will never stop being funny
