i like that after 8 generations, the pokemon that emerged as an unexpected fan favorite is Bidoof. he's not statistically much different from the other "generic first route rat/squirrel/rodent" pokemons, yet he inspires love like no other. probably because he looks like this

the thing about Young Justice is that it was a lighthearted book with an informal tone- it was meant to be a breath of fresh air from the heaviness of other team-up books, presenting a relaxed atmosphere. they're practically not a "superhero team" at all, just friends hanging out

8. i've always had a thing for the "ancient master" martial arts trope, but i think Gen was my first brush with the idea that this kind of character could be morally gray. i was used to wise old benevolent mentors- Gen was a wily assassin, cold and merciless. i found it cool!

when the MCU finally introduces X-Men, i hope they're able to touch on the idea of codenames being an expression of agency and mutant cultural pride. it would be an interesting statement for the mutants of the MCU to decide they won't be named or defined by anyone but themselves
