Fantastic day hosted by the brilliant #artdept staff @burygrammar. Began with a wonderful, thought-provoking talk by @InfoWylie, followed by an afternoon in the studios and the opportunity to experiment with #screenprint and #textiles techniques. Feeling invigorated. @nsead.
One of the joys of visiting new galleries is seeing work for the first time. ‘Figure lying in front of a mirror’ by #FrancisBacon hangs in the @bilbaomuseoa; part of an outstanding collection in a wonderful gallery. @bilbaoturismo
We’re blessed to have an archive of superb work painted by former students. Earlier today we hung these four large canvases on the walls of the dance studio, where they will be appreciated and hopefully inspire our young dancers. @stockportgs @NSEAD1
Still in progress, but a bit further along. #art #fineart #oilpainting
The welcome sight of early Spring flowers poking up through the soil has prompted me to begin work on a series of small flower paintings. These three are in progress, currently. #oilpainting #stilllife #art #fineart
Managed to do this little painting (keeping it just out of shot) while on a full day of training Meets. It’s kept me sane. @NSEAD1 @theartcriminal @NickClancarty @JANUSZCZAK
One thing linked to mental well-being that I’ve seen in the #artdept since the return to school, is the calmness that comes with the focus required to do observational drawing. These fantastic pencil studies are from Yr10 and are A2 size. @The_Big_Draw @MMUArtOutreach
@DarrellWakelam I agree. This is what my Yr10 students have been working on. They were done from direct observation working at A2 size. They took about 5 hrs to complete. Watching them working with such focus was fantastic.
Quick demo I completed to show my students a way of recording mechanical forms using conté and acrylic (finger painted, no brushwork). They’ve done some fantastic (long) studies using pencil and pen & ink, so this more immediate and intuitive way of working was a great contrast.
