Among the manuscripts from the library of the abolished Augustinian monastery in New Town in Prague, an illuminated missal XXIII F 56 from middle of the 15th century with a decoration reflecting Czech late medieval book painting has also been preserved. https://t.co/G4LTVecpv7
Older manuscripts were often rebound, but they were often damaged - for example, manuscript XXIII E 69, originally from 1429 to 1430, which initials were partly cut off. The manuscript was then part of the library of the Černín family from Chudenice.https://t.co/q5msWWsjOL
Blessed Hroznata founded monastery in Teplá in 1197, a nunnery in Chotěšov later. Already in the middle of the 13th century, the text Vita fratris Hroznatae, Teplensis et Chotiessowiensis monasterii fundatoris was written. It has been preserved in a younger copy of Teplá MS b 1.

Kalmyks in manuscript VIII H 75
Kalmyks are a West Mongol nation and the original descendants of Mongol tribes. The Jesuits worked missionarily with them during the 18th century. One of them recorded scenes from their lives (clothes, hair, bows, yurts, the alphabet and others).
The Lobkowicz New Testament XXIII B 1 and St. Paul in several ways
The Lobkowicz New Testament XXIII B 1 was created in Bohemia after middle of 15th century. Illuminators connected with the Pilsen circuit somewhat schematically chose St. Paul's decoration as their main theme.
Wondering where names of manuscripts sometimes come from? In case of Bibles, we often choose accompanying names. This so-called Bořek's Bible XVII A 29 is named after Jan Kryštof Bořek, who donated it to library of the monastery in Kladruby. It was founded in 1471 in Bohemia.
The art of writing letters and how to do it
The past few months have shown that writing letters is often a science. To gain inspiration, we highly recommend the classic, ie Epistolae ad familiares by M. T. Cicero (VIII D 16, 1470, Bohemia).

🐢World Turtle Day🐢
Tortoises are briefly discussed by Thomas de Cantimprato in De natura rerum libri XX. Turtles are painted in both of our manuscripts, ie XIV A 15 from end of 14th century and X A 4 from first quarter of 15th century. Both turtles look a bit like monsters.
What unites manuscripts VIII A 3 (Bible of the scribe Zikmund) and IX D 3 (Isidorus Hispanensis)? It is the personality of the "painter." In fact, we don't know much about him - we don't know his name. Perhaps only that he worked in Bohemia at the beginning of the 15th century.
