@CBR Shonen manga have had strong female leads for the longest time, most importantly who have strong *character*.
Your shallow pandering insults readers, fans, and artists, by pretending that you are ahead of some curve that the rest of us are catching up with.
@RealRexDoom Believe it or not, the art has actually improved since the first book.
This trope, I recognized it while reading a manga called Psyren. It's the act that Tomoko pulls on a younger kid in middle school in the Watamote OVA. What we see is the younger kid's idealized vision of Tomoko, likely blurred by memory.
If you are into manga/anime and you've heard/read about how awful people in Comicsgate are:
Keep in mind that you're hearing that from the same US industry who hate "anime avatars" and think manga is a problem.
They protect themselves from criticism by smearing/dividing critics
@Megark107 Yes!
But besides that, the purple tie indicates that she's senpai Tomoko.
@PoopyHeadTomat1 @yenpress @rightstufanime The manga is still going, so this is the new stuff, except for volume 8 that I was missing.
Volume 18 is out in June, featuring the rare silver-haired Tomoko Kuroki.
@watamotist He's self publishing now, so I'm pretty sure he hasn't had time to think about translated editions yet. However, he is building a full-fledged comic book company, and has recruited talent such as Dale Keown and Trent Kaniuga, so maybe that's in the future!
@TorJohnson6 The irony is that one of the wealthiest mangaka ever was a woman. She got there by creating imaginative comics about young busty girls, comedy and violence, gender confusion, martial arts and horror...
...and not by lecturing people about refrigerators and politics.
