Today I’ve been revisiting some favourite wordless or ‘silent’ picturebooks. First up - Wave, Lines and Mirror by the wonderful Suzy Lee. Sometimes silent books make grown ups nervous. But try one with age 5/6 + and fall into the pictures. Let your imaginations soar together.

Monika lives and works in Lithuania and has won many international awards for this book.
I could pour over her illustrations for hours, they are so full of texture and detail. I love picturebooks that make you think and What is a River? certainly does that. It’s a keeper!

Comics def made me the reader I am now. Like many children, I found the mechanics of reading hard. Comics with their colourful, attractive illustrations made me WANT to read the text, which was broken up into short bits. The pictures gave me clues as to what the text was about.
