Some new sketches from following the @VFXApprentice course. My idea: A mushroom explosion, where a 2nd explosion happens and rips the existing smoke appart. Currently I'm blocking out shapes, forms & volumes of the smoke.

... but I'd never have guessed that this tentakel-thingie is also animated via alembic. If you would have asked me, I would have guessed a vertex-shader is doing the whole job.
... but what I did NOT see often so far: a debug view of how many of those decals are placed on a single level <3
