In the first game, Agent 3's headset and shoes are always blue, regardless of their ink colour. This is changed in Octo Expansion, where the blue is recoloured to whatever their current ink colour is.

The Art of Splatoon 2 reveals Pearl and Marina’s canon heights of 145 cm (4’9”) and 178 cm (5’10”) respectively. This means that Inklings and Octolings are generally the same size as humans.

Concept art reveals that Pearl was originally intended to be an Octoling and look more like Marina, but she was eventually redesigned into the Pearl we know today. This is probably because Octolings were not playable at launch.

An Inkling and Octoling resembling Agent 4 and 8 respectively can be seen in the Tower Records artwork. They appear to be sharing a living space, implying that Agent 8 moved in with Agent 4 after Octo Expansion.

DJ Octavio is actually an Octoling, and his humanoid form can be seen in the first game's 16th sunken scroll and in session 5 of Marina's Chat Room.
