Shobu makes a run for the bathroom after drinking too much juice, but on his way out he's confronted by his "fan"--Jamira in drag, who's been waiting for Shobu to drink too much and show up. Back in the arena, the finals are about to start and Shobu's nowhere to be found.
As preparations for grand finals begin, Shobu's friends cheer him on in the arena, but Mimi has to duck out because of a sudden phone call. Elsewhere, Tooru reflects on how he's going to leave his mark on the history of dueling--but a Temple member interrupts him with an offer.
Rekuta is researching Tooru's deck on the internet, discovering it's a mixed Water/Light combo deck, but is surprised it has no obvious trump card. Tooru enters, declaring that he'll defeat Shobu with the evolution he and his deck have undergone since losing to Kokujo back in 3.
Ep 8 opens with a flashback of a child Tooru playing Duel Masters with his friends at school, where they remark on how strong he is. In the modern day, Tooru reflects on this and asserts that he will become the world's best. Meanwhile, Shobu's been gifted drinks from a "fan."
The dub reorders scenes so the dance happens after Jamira's story, and turns it into a hypnosis technique rather than a trigger dance. It also gives Shobu a flashback to his dad, replaces some CGI, and adds jokes about Jamira being thrown out because he stinks and dresses weird.
While doing special training in the mountains, he witnessed a snake standing its ground against countless frogs, which taught him to...stuff his deck full of Shield Triggers and do this dance to make them come out.
(Yahagi Kyou really is a Jamira clone, huh.)
...by mana charging it.
The audience, announcer, and Knight are all appalled at wastefully throwing such an important card into mana...until Shobu does the exact same thing. Everyone is appalled at the both of them, and Jamira resorts to his secret weapon...the Snake Dance!
Jamira thinks this will throw Shobu off his game because of how she's always mad at him at school, but joke's on him--Shobu and his teacher are actually besties, and she's proud he made top cut. Jamira's next plan is to use Shobu's favorite card against him...Bolshack Dragon!
Back in the tournament, Jamira resolves to use any means to defeat Shobu in the semifinals. As the match begins, we find out he's been stalking him to find his weaknesses, and invited...Shobu's homeroom teacher!
To reenter the Temple, Jamira must enter the Kanto tournament and defeat Kirifuda Shobu. Desperate to rejoin, Jamira agrees to the Master's conditions.
(By the way, the Temple member is voiced by Nakajima Saki...who else is voiced by Nakajima?)
