More work on Phantom Island tiles. The last tiles I did were too busy to have them everywhere, so now very dark versions of them are background and the foreground tiles are a bit less fragmented into blocks.

I think this is my fave frame from any 2D Mario game, just because how relatively off model it is. I just love how goofy the mouth is.

Luigi's version get's a bit destroyed by the unfitting palette in places. Luigi, the eternal player 2 afterthought, so sad.

C64 MCOL pics so it is easier to compare. The mid one has 2 images that are somewhat far apart, bc I didn't do a lot of MCOL stuff in that period & I changed my approach a lot starting with the skeleton. #pixelart #oldmiddlenew
