Story #3! Batman and Robin encounter a thief running out of a store, but the pathos on his face prevents Batman from decking him. Turns out the guy is Joe Sands, and he only stole $6 - even when he saw that more money was available - because he is looking to buy medicine for his
Specifically one inhabited by goblins and ogres or whatever. So okay after the fight they find out Gruel's weakness is wrestling so off Batman goes to wrestle her into submission.
So they escape the giants only to find the castle is surrounded by a moat of fire. So they uh catapult themselves over the fire on a tree or whatever.
My food has staged a mutiny, I can't. Anyway, yeah Bruce throws a fork into the giant's eye, and they manage to maneuver the two giants into fighting each other instead, which actually is their main strategy in this story it seems! Not bad given what they're dealing with.
DICK. THAT'S MEAN.
Anyway they climb the beanstalk and end up getting caught by the ogre/giant guy at the top, who is fixing to make them into stew or whatever.
...and then Batman literally blows the dragon's head up, WOW ok. Soon they encounter Humpty Dumpty, who lets them know that they'll need to climb Jack's beanstalk to get to the castle.
Moving on they run across Simple Simon on the way to the fair and he confirms that the Black Witch's castle is down the road they're on... but warns that it goes through Great Dragon guards.
Anyway it's not that hard to figure out but the way to take these guys down is to ram them into each other, which Robin proceeds to do since he's the one fighting the ice one!
...also if they don't get her by sundown she'll be trapped forever.
To make things more problematic, Gruel herself shows up and drops a man made of ice and a man made of fire on them and, I'm sure, screamed "DOWN TO EARTH STREET LEVEL!!!!" as she flew away on her broomstick.
