managed to put all geometries back in and fix the "inflate" modifier. they can be combined in a more or less controllable way
i made a small detour and rewrite most of the displacement code. some examples of combinations of the new parameters:
you can do really weird combinations if you feed an rendered object into its matcap. getting dangerously close to start rendering to a texture 😄
