Death Scyther is I think a Monsters-exclusive creature. Actually, I'm not sure it exists outside of Caravan Heart, but it has a really nice color palette and really inventive eyes. Plus, I like the combination of soft and threatening design elements here.
Back to Slimes! Healslimes are great, but I think the Mendslime has my favorite color palette for them. It's also interesting to me that the Man o' War enemy uses a recolor of this design, despite not really being otherwise a member of the Healslime family.
I forgot it when going through Dragon Quest III monsters, but the Funghoul is a great mushroom monster. Just a cartoon mushroom with limbs and a ghostly face. It definitely gives me vibes of being a funny swamp or forest creature.
The Japanese name of the Batterfly is apparently "Human-Faced Butterfly", but the face in its art looks much more like an angry rottweiler or something to me. That actually makes me like it a lot more, honestly. It's another inventive, off-the-wall animal fusion like the Chimaera
Okay I lied I'm not done with Slimes.
The Shell Slime family, annoying as they can be to fight, have really delightful designs. Just a cone shell with a blobby little slime poking out of it. I think this might be the cutest the already-cute slime face looks to me, too.
Hwohoho, Dancing Flame! I love pretty much any time Toriyama puts this face on something. The fact that the face is just solid black also helps lend a sense of lighting and make it feel like Dancing Flames really are just entities of pure, well, flame.
Another denizen of Dragon Quest II's towers, the Madusa is another really neat take on a monster that's basically just an eye with a bunch of tentacle-like appendages. It actually feels like a merging of the concept of a Gorgon with a Beholder, which makes a pretty cool combo.
Another classic! Dragon Quest's take on Chimaeras is so delightfully goofy and a really fun take on combining multiple different sorts of animals. I've always kinda liked the almost reclining pose of their bodies, or maybe it's like a cartoon insect coming in for a sting.
ALRIGHT BACK TO THIS THREAD with the Golem!
I love how it's made of bricks and modeled after a fortress, and this default pose here is very strong. It really FEELS like a big, hardy titan you don't wanna mess with
