I love the Harmour's armor and weapon design, and especially the fact that their in-game sprites kinda make them look like they just have one eye under that helmet. Maybe they do
And that glaive is just cool as hell
Goodybags! This is a monster type I do think is more broadly iconic of the series, but rightly-so. Look at that perfect face and the simple yet appealing shape of the bag. They have so much personality! I always thought they'd sound like the late Maddie Blaustein's Meowth.
Another classic, the Lunatick! Such a mystical, alien-looking design, with a beautiful color scheme. This is one of the designs that stood out the absolute most to me playing Dragon Quest IX. Even as a kid, I saw it and thought "that is a DAMN good creature design"
Wooper freaking Trooper babey!! Always been one of my favorites since I first played Dragon Quest IX as a kid. What could be more Flawless than a little axolotl knight. Nothing
My other favorite is the bubble slime! It looks a bit different here, but I really love the lighting on its in-game sprites; makes it look very vibrant and even a little tasty, like soda. I also love how they animate; it makes great use of their more liquid forms.
First up, I think this is a really cool take on ogres. Ogres are usually portrayed as thuggish and unintelligent, but this older gentleman's hairstyle and color make me think of him more like a seasoned, disciplined expert at wielding that double flail thing
I’ve thought for a while that the Notso Macho / Dumbira enemy type from Dragon Quest would be fun to base a fan character off of so here is they… they are equipping 🗡Black Blade and they’re an edgy goth swordfighter, haha
So it is #bunnyday (#バニーの日) apparently…
The first character here, Rabbit, is ironically not actually a rabbit, but look at my bunny boys
