...also I can't believe I'm just now realizing that the Geodude line's ability to learn Self-Destruct and Explosion is almost certainly a reference to Dragon Quest's Rockbombs, and that Graveler's design could easily be as well https://t.co/DGIpBjNuIC
@finbunn Sorry I don’t have a proper ref BUT here is my boy Rabbit, for your consideration!
You NEED him if you want to make a deal. You have no choice https://t.co/MlsC9yHdLL
@16bitmuse Thanks so much for this chance!! Here is my boy Rabbit, for your consideration…
The Wax Murderer is extremely funny for that fact that Toriyama didn't go the obvious route of drawing it poised to attack with flames or melted wax and instead just gave it a fucking knife. You think you're safe?
Death Scyther is I think a Monsters-exclusive creature. Actually, I'm not sure it exists outside of Caravan Heart, but it has a really nice color palette and really inventive eyes. Plus, I like the combination of soft and threatening design elements here.
Back to Slimes! Healslimes are great, but I think the Mendslime has my favorite color palette for them. It's also interesting to me that the Man o' War enemy uses a recolor of this design, despite not really being otherwise a member of the Healslime family.
I forgot it when going through Dragon Quest III monsters, but the Funghoul is a great mushroom monster. Just a cartoon mushroom with limbs and a ghostly face. It definitely gives me vibes of being a funny swamp or forest creature.
