The remaining one was rather sedate in comparison: the woman seated, playing the harp, in a woodland scene. I included it with the others I sent to the art director, never thinking that he might choose such a straightforward approach!
The pose proved to be a challenge for the model I hired. As the position was difficult to maintain, we resorted to photography in order to capture it in detail. Even so, she held the pose for a remarkably long time, and I imagine she had some stiff muscles the following day!

The artwork for the 'Incarnations of Immortality' series is set within a box without any type running over it. This is both good and bad for me.

THE DREAMING LANDS (2002)
This painting is one of several works derived from my experiences at MSKCC in 2000.
That year I also read a couple of books which mentioned a feeling I have experienced at night during camping trips: lying in some huge quiet wilderness area...

His 'sword' is supposed to be made of wood.
Art for the family holiday card in 2003. Revisiting themes of peace and love.
As you can see from the rocket protruding from the sack of presents, Santa brought another Hugo award in 1981—my second—and apparently he borrowed Ruth from THE WHITE DRAGON to make the delivery!
But when I returned, my studio was in a shambles. While I was gone my cat had tried to climb up my drawing board. She must have slipped on the smooth surface of the painting and tried to grasp it with her claws, because there were scratch marks all down the front.
