#SebastianoRicci (1659-1734) was an Italian painter of the late #Baroque school of #Venice. He was the uncle of #MarcoRicci.
Ricci ‘brought back in the #Venetian tradition a wealth of chromatic expression resolved in a new vibrating brilliance brightness’. A self-portrait.
A few years ago I investigated the locations of the statuary in Lord Burlington’s Garden at @Chiswick_House . I was particularly keen to establish the location of the goat statue by #MichaelRysbrack that does not appear in any painting of the gardens.
My article on #Masonic influences in the Red Velvet Room at #ChiswickHouse for the ‘English Heritage Historical Review’.
This is one of my all time favourite photographs. It shows my daughter a few years ago at on a lion by #Scheemakers, surrounded by #Herm and #Term figures and overlooking the Ionic Temple and #obelisk surrounded by water. Serene, beautiful and entrancing. @Chiswick_House
@RogerHutchinsI1 I really love my painting of the Orange Tree garden at #ChiswickHouse by the very talented artist Roger Hutchins. The ionic Temple (like many of the other garden fabriques), was designed by Richard Boyle, 3rd Earl of Burlington (1694-1753). @Chiswick_House

Too large to carry Uglow’s book on Hogarth around, so will read it on Kindle!
The #frontispiece to ‘ Le Secret de la Societe des Mopses’ and a poorly painted painted #pug in the ceiling of Lady Burlington’s Garden Room at #ChiswickHouse. This room led to her #China Room and her #Meissen treasures. The word #Mops is German for #Pug.
