Ralph's son Dale who spent his time in the garage along side his father gaining knowledge and honing a craft of a champion and icon. Sadly it was Dale who found his father who died of a heart attack at the kitchen table. His grandson @DaleJr also carried on the family tradition !

Ed also was known for borrowing large sums of money against his winnings and charged for writing bad checks and fight a law officer.
His first race back after a year in Milwaukee Ed spun out in oil layed down by AJ Foyt. and died in a fiery crash that burned for 9 minutes.
USAC suspended Ed for 1 year for this crash. Rumor spread that Ed tried to lead the first lap in order to pay a gambling bet owed to a syndicate. In a other race in 1958 in Ohio driver Jim Davis and Elisian crashed and Davis died in a result to this crash.The hits kept on coming.
In 1955 Indy 500 his good friend Bill Vukovich died in a crash and it was Ed Elisian who stopped his car during the race to try and save him.Ed received a award for doing so! Than his career took a disastrous twist. In 1956 at Salem, Bob Sweikert died in a crash blamed on Ed.

Ed Elisian was a talented race car driver but was highly disliked by the competition. Throughout his career he was blamed to be the reason that many drivers died while on the same race track with him. His controversial career came up short for many reasons
Rick Ferkel,s driving career started in 1965 thru 1989. He was a loyal follower to WOO founder Ted Johnson but did venture off at times to win races with the All-Stars and other key events. A true ambassador of the sport and huge fan favorite. Respect was there from the drivers!
