Programs used on this character were Zbrush, 3Dcoat (for retop), Maya, Substance Painter and Marmoset.
He ended up being just under 50k tris but a good chunk of that is due to the transparent parts of his blouse needing double siding.

I go about mine in Zbrush, by making a duplicate all-white model, then I use the recent AO masking feature and add a couple shades of gray. I use Substance Painter to merge the flat colors with two copies of the AO, one multiply and the other linear burn, both 50%
