@FolkloreThurs I couldn't find a limerick, so here is a poem about an old gnome from #Bexhill #Sussex, written & illustrated by the talented Nina Kennard Brisley (1898-1978) from the @BexhillObs 16.12.1911. #History #1910s #folklorethursday #Folklore #poem #gnome #fairy #writers
I’d be baffled if this photo hadn’t been captioned, but it shows the inside of a dog tent, complete with sleeping dogs, on the successful Amundsen Expedition to the South Pole in 1911. Also shown ~ expeditioners’ winter fashions / the joy of sewing

This is ‘Bathing’ by Duncan Grant, 1911. It's inspired by Michelangelo’s male nudes and summers spent at the Serpentine in Hyde Park, which was associated with London’s gay culture. 🌈

On this eve of festivities, please keep an eye out for Geoff. He is once again wandering the desert trying to steal food, small children and christmas cards. Do not believe his insistence that he is Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer. Report sightings to 911.
