“Puny Simonson Can't Keep HULK in Tiny Panel!!!”
A rare Walter Simonson painting. 1979
@Shadewing @JoeGKushner The Metal Men series had some fun stories. The Walt Simonson books are particular favorites.
I recommend Cloak Dagger’s limited series and first ongoing. Their appearances in Spectacular Spider-Man were top notch. The Strange Tales’ run was not as great
Walter Simonson’s RAGNARÖK by Kevin Nowlan (2017)
@EnemyOfTheShoe @PunchDrunkKing I really liked the Hawkgirl comic by Simonson and Chaykin at the time, and while it doesn't have the One Year Later branding the Blue Beetle comic spun out of it.
Well cool!

@JT_ILLITSIP Beta Ray is bad ass, and I just love how Coipel draws him.
Silvestri drew a great one too.
Come to think of it, from Simonson to Coipel...many great artists have given us great images of the character.
Nobody's ever inked me except Olympians' own @GeorgetheMighty on this faux-variant for a Simonson classic. Process pics:
@BillyHynes Simonson was writing it at the time, and drew an issue or two, Chaykin came in for 6 issues or so for the one year later thing, as Hawkgirl. It has that computer color he was doing at the time, or maybe still is.
[Thor #339, Jan. 1984] We get another fantastic cover from Simonson, and it looks like Beta Ray Bill is getting a new hammer! [#cmro M5475]
The first volume was produced, essentially, by Marvel, with Claremont’s usual team on the comic (though Walt Simonson handled pencils). The second volume was scheduled to switch that and have Wolfman/Perez producing, but it was scuttled over editorial conflicts. 2/9
Walt Simonson managed to capture the entire essences of Bobby Drake and Scott Summers in these faces.
Timeless.

Back when you'd get non-shortchanged movie adaptations, the "ALIEN" adaptation by Archie Goodwin and Walt Simonson that Heavy Metal put out in 1979 is a visual delight, some Walt's best work.

How about this? Jerry Ordway and P. Craig Russell ! Game of the Gods. Oh, and it’s written by Walt Simonson !
