Perhaps the idea of, on occasion, painting the adult Princes Charles Edward Stuart and his brother, Henry Benedict Stuart,as their childselves, stems from the notion of innocence and the desire to appeal to maternal instincts in the viewer? #Jacobite
16 April 1746. Loyalist forces of George II defeated the Jacobites, supported by French troops, who wanted to restore the Stuarts to the British throne, at the Battle of Culloden. After the battle, many highland traditions were banned.
today her viewpoint is reflected by many, including myself. Burlington was a Jacobite and Freemason and the decoration of Chiswick House is encoded with such emblems of loyalty.
In a tavern at the now 'Angel Yard' in Kendal, 1745, the apparition of an angel brandishing a sword appeared and saved a child from the marauding Jacobite army.

Fantastic talk by @P14Murray on the British Army in Scotland after Culloden, to kick of JST Workshops for 2022. Lots of significant parallels (and key differences) with Ireland, especially around the time of 1798. Thanks @FunkyPlaid for organising! #JacobiteStudies #WildGeese
Here is the articulated buffer beam on Gordon I forgot to show off. I got the idea from Ts__ LMS Black 5 "the Jacobite" over on Eurobricks.

In #September 1715 the earl of Jersey was sent to the Tower for Jacobite plotting. He was set free by January 1716 & celebrated by not going to bed for a month & spending the last week of that living on brandy alone

William Kent’s inclusion of the likeness of Maria Clementina Sokieska in the St Clement Dames altarpiece was not an isolated incident. She appears in Kent’s painting of ‘Architecture’ (with Jones) at Burlington House & as a bust painted by a putto at @Chiswick_House #jacobite
The winner of the Leprechaun sketch is Annie Moore! Her winning title for this sketch is Jacobite.

“The view of the Jacobites as quasi-colonial primitives is persistent […] The seriousness of Jacobitism is ignored because the power of the threat undermines the story of British unity.”

Originally a noble residence, this medieval tower house became an army base for hunting down Jacobite sympathisers & later whisky smugglers - we're pretty sure *The Castle Ladies* have tales to tell.
